Connect your WhatsApp Business number with Facebook, step by step

In Tiram, open Settings → WhatsApp and press Connect with Facebook. A secure Meta window opens; you sign in, pick your business and your phone number, and finish. There are no tokens, app IDs, or app secrets to copy anywhere — that is what Tiram's verified Tech Provider status removes. The whole thing takes about two minutes once Part 1 is done, and Tiram checks the connection genuinely works with Meta before it saves it.

Before you press Connect

The first item comes from Part 1. The rest are Tiram-side, and they cover the three most common reasons the popup misbehaves.

  • Part 1 finished: a Meta Business account, your WhatsApp Business app updated to 2.24.17 or newer, and ideally business verification submitted.

  • Your Tiram organisation is on the Gold or Platinum plan. WhatsApp is not included on Silver, and the Settings → WhatsApp screen is gated.

  • Your Tiram user has the WhatsApp edit permission. Without it the Connect button is visible but disabled.

  • Ad blockers and script blockers off for this site. The connect window loads through Facebook's JavaScript SDK, and blockers are the single most common reason it never opens.

  • A desktop or laptop browser. The flow needs a real popup window.

Connecting, step by step

  1. Open the WhatsApp settings screen

    Tiram → Settings → WhatsApp

You will see a Quick connect card with a Connect with Facebook button, and a status showing Not connected.

If the Quick connect card is not there at all, one-click connect is not configured for this install. That is expected on self-hosted desktop installs, which need their own Meta app details entered first; cloud accounts on Gold or above always see it.

  2. Press Connect with Facebook

Tiram → Settings → WhatsApp → Quick connect

A Meta-hosted window opens on top of Tiram. This window belongs to Meta, not to us — your Facebook password is never typed into Tiram and Tiram never receives it.

If nothing opens, or you see a message about the connect window failing to load, a blocker stopped Facebook's SDK. Disable it for this site and try again.

  3. Sign in and pick your business

    The Meta window

Sign in to Facebook, then choose the business portfolio you set up in Part 1. If more than one appears, pick the one holding the number you intend to use — assets cannot be moved between business accounts afterwards without help from Meta.

  4. Choose or register your phone number

    The Meta window

Select your existing WhatsApp Business number and complete the SMS or call verification Meta asks for. This is the coexistence step: the number keeps working in the app on your phone, and Meta offers to synchronise up to six months of chat history and your contacts across — that sync has to finish within 24 hours, so leave the phone online.

Meta will also ask you to review the access Tiram is requesting — management and messaging permissions on your WhatsApp Business Account. Those are what let Tiram send invoices and read delivery receipts on your behalf.

Complete every screen to the end. Closing the window early — even on the last step — leaves the connection unfinished, and Tiram will say so rather than saving a half-working setup.

  5. Let Tiram finish and verify

    Tiram → Settings → WhatsApp

When the window closes, Tiram completes the handshake with Meta, subscribes to delivery updates for your account, and checks the number actually responds before marking the connection active. The status flips to Connected on its own.

If anything failed in that final exchange you get an error rather than a false success — Tiram deliberately will not save a connection it could not verify.

  6. Get one template approved, then send a test

    Tiram → WhatsApp → Templates

Meta requires an approved template for any message your business starts. Submit one utility template for invoice delivery, or pick one from Meta's template library, and wait for approval — usually quick.

Once it is approved, send an invoice to your own number as a first test. You will watch the status move through Queued, Sent, Delivered, and Read.

Confirm it actually works

A Connected badge only proves the handshake succeeded. These four checks prove messages really reach customers — do them before you rely on it for live invoices.

The status badge reads Connected
Settings → WhatsApp shows Connected, with your phone number listed.
A test invoice reaches your own phone
The message arrives on WhatsApp with the PDF attached, sent from your business display name.
The status reaches Delivered, not just Sent
Within about a minute the message log shows Delivered. This is the proof that Meta's delivery updates are reaching Tiram; stuck on Sent means receipts are not arriving.
Channel health shows activity
The WhatsApp hub's health card reports delivery and read rates with a Connected status, and no pending or rejected templates you did not expect.

If it does not connect

Each row is a distinct failure with a distinct fix. Work down the list in order — the top two account for most cases.

What you seeWhat it meansWhat to do

Couldn't load the Facebook connect window

Facebook's JavaScript SDK was blocked before it could load

Turn off ad and script blockers for this site, or try another browser. The manual setup path also works if a corporate network blocks Facebook entirely.

The connection window closed before finishing

The popup was closed or a step was skipped, so Meta never handed over the account details

Run it again and complete every screen, including the number verification and the permissions review.

Facebook reported a problem during the connection

Meta rejected something mid-flow and passed back its own message

Read Meta's wording in the banner — it usually names the cause, most often an unverified business or a number already in use.

The Quick connect card is not shown at all

One-click connect is not configured for this install

Expected on self-hosted desktop installs, which need their own Meta app details first. On cloud, check the organisation is on Gold or above.

The Connect button is greyed out

Your Tiram user lacks the WhatsApp edit permission

Ask an admin to grant WhatsApp edit on your role.

Connected, but messages never leave Queued

No approved template yet, or the daily sending tier is used up

Check WhatsApp → Templates for an approved template, and the health card for your remaining daily allowance.

Connected and Sent, but never Delivered

Meta's delivery updates are not reaching this install

Expected on desktop installs, which have no public address for Meta to call — status stops at Sent there. On cloud, check the diagnostics page for incoming events.

Worked for weeks, then sending started failing

The authorisation was revoked, Meta paused sending over billing, or a coexistence number was disconnected after the phone went unused for about 14 days

Open WhatsApp Business on that phone again, reconnect from Settings → WhatsApp, and check for an unpaid balance in Meta's WhatsApp Manager.

Which Tiram plan includes WhatsApp?

Connecting a WhatsApp Business number — and everything built on it: invoice sending, templates, campaigns, contacts, delivery activity, and diagnostics — is included from the Gold plan and on Platinum. The Silver plan does not include WhatsApp, and the Settings → WhatsApp screen is gated on Silver.

Meta's per-conversation message charges are billed to you by Meta directly and stay separate from your Tiram subscription on every plan.

If you are on Silver and only need to hand a customer their bill, every plan includes a free Share on WhatsApp button that opens WhatsApp with the invoice link filled in — no connection or template approval needed.

Common questions

Does Tiram see my Facebook password?
No. The sign-in happens inside a window served by Meta. Tiram receives only the authorisation to act on your WhatsApp Business Account, never your password.
What access is Tiram asking for?
Management and messaging permissions on your WhatsApp Business Account — enough to send messages on your behalf and read delivery and read receipts. You review them in the Meta window before approving.
Can I disconnect later?
Yes. Settings → WhatsApp has a Disconnect action, and you can also revoke Tiram's access from your Meta business settings. Your number and account stay yours either way.
Why is my message stuck on Sent?
Delivery receipts need Meta to reach your install over the internet. Cloud accounts get them; offline desktop installs have no public address, so status stops at Sent there.
Do I need an approved template to send an invoice?
Yes. Meta requires an approved template for any message a business starts. One utility template is enough to begin sending invoices.
Which plan do I need to connect WhatsApp?
Gold or Platinum. Silver does not include WhatsApp.
