Confirm a payment the moment it lands

Record a payment and Tiram immediately offers to tell the customer: the amount you received, the date, and what is still outstanding. It goes from your own WhatsApp Business number, in your own wording, and it ends the "did you get my payment?" phone call.

Where it appears
As a prompt the instant a payment is saved, and durably from the payment's own page
Message class
Utility, text-only — no PDF to open, no link to log in to
Anchored to
The payment row, so each payment keeps its own delivery history

When to send one

A receipt is worth the message when the customer is uncertain, or when the balance changed. That is most of the time.

A customer pays by UPI while standing at the counter
Record it and send the confirmation before they leave. Their phone now holds proof neither of you has to remember.
Money arrives in the bank against an old khata
Record the payment and send the receipt. The message states the new balance, so the next conversation starts from an agreed number.
A part payment comes in
The receipt says what you received and what remains — a part payment that goes unacknowledged is where disputes are born.
You forgot to send it at the time
Open the payment later and send it from the header. The prompt is a convenience, not the only route.

What your customer actually receives

Three facts in one message: what came in, when, and where the account stands now.

From your own WhatsApp Business number

Hello Kumar,

We received ₹5,000 from you on 26-Jul-2026. Thank you.

Your balance with Ravi Traders is now ₹3,450.

Amount received
The exact amount on the payment you recorded — not retyped, so the message and your books can't disagree.
Payment date
The date of the payment itself, which matters when you record it a day or two later.
Outstanding balance
The customer's running khata total after this payment is applied.
Names
The customer's name and your business name, from their records.

The receipt is text-only by design. There is no payment PDF anywhere in Tiram, and inventing a document for a two-line acknowledgement would be a file nobody asked for and every customer has to open.

The play, step by step

One-time template setup, then it is a single tap on the screen you were already on.

  1. Get a payment-receipt template approved

On the WhatsApp Templates screen, start from the Payment received starter — it already has the amount, date and balance placeholders — adjust the wording, and submit it to Meta.

  2. Mark it as your payment-receipt template

Choose Set as payment-receipt template on the approved one. Until something is designated, the send button tells you so and points you here rather than failing silently.

  3. Record the payment as usual

Nothing changes about how you take money. Cash, UPI, bank transfer, part payment — record it the way you always have.

  4. Answer the prompt

The moment the payment saves, Tiram asks Payment recorded — let Kumar know you received it? One tap sends the receipt. Ignore it and nothing is sent; the app never messages a customer on its own.

  5. Or send it later from the payment

Open the payment and use Send WhatsApp receipt in the header. Same message, same template, available for as long as the payment exists.

  6. Check it landed

Each payment carries its own message history, so you can see whether that receipt was delivered and read without hunting through a shared log.

When a receipt won't send, and what you see instead

Every refusal names its own cause and its own fix. None of them fail quietly.

Refusal cases for a payment-receipt send, and the remedy for each.
SituationWhat happensWhat to do

No payment-receipt template designated yet

The send is refused with a message naming the missing designation

Approve a utility template and set it as the payment-receipt template.

The designated template is not approved by Meta

The send is refused rather than attempted

Wait for Meta's approval, or designate a different approved template.

The customer has no usable phone number

The send is refused before Meta is called

Add or correct the customer's phone number and send from the payment page.

WhatsApp isn't connected for the business

The send is refused with a connect prompt

Connect your WhatsApp Business number in settings first.

Your utility spend ceiling is exhausted

The send is blocked by your own cap

Raise the cap, or wait for the period to roll over — the cap resets by itself.

The payment has no customer (a walk-in sale)

There is nobody to message

Nothing to do — walk-in counter sales have no customer record by design.

What it leaves behind

The receipt is not a fire-and-forget message; it is attached to the payment it acknowledges.

Delivery history on the payment

Filtered to that payment, so "which receipt went out for this ₹5,000?" has one answer rather than a search through the day's messages.

An audit-trail entry

Recorded as a payment receipt sent over WhatsApp, with the amount and who sent it.

What stops this going wrong

The whole point of a receipt is that the customer trusts it. Four things protect that.

  • The app never sends one by itself. The prompt is an offer; a receipt goes out only when someone taps it.

  • The numbers come from the payment record, so a receipt can't quote an amount your books disagree with.

  • Utility class, not marketing, so a payment acknowledgement is billed at Meta's cheaper rate and is never mistaken for a promotional blast.

  • Your spend ceiling and Meta's daily limit still apply, and a receipt is refused rather than sneaking past a cap you set.

Which plan includes WhatsApp payment receipts

Sending payment receipts over WhatsApp is part of Tiram's WhatsApp module, included on the Gold and Platinum plans. The Silver plan does not include WhatsApp sending.

Recording payments, the customer khata and the payments ledger themselves are available on every plan, Silver included — Gold is needed only to message the confirmation. Cloud and desktop are gated identically.

FAQs

Does Tiram send a payment confirmation automatically?
No. It offers to, the instant a payment is recorded, and you tap to send. Nothing goes to a customer without someone choosing to send it.
Can I send a receipt for a payment I recorded last week?
Yes. Open that payment and use Send WhatsApp receipt in the header — the option stays available for as long as the payment exists.
Is the WhatsApp receipt a PDF?
No, it is a plain text message. Tiram has no payment PDF, so the acknowledgement is three facts in a message the customer can read without opening anything.
Does the receipt show the remaining balance?
Yes — the amount received, the payment date, and the customer's outstanding balance after that payment are all filled in from the record.
What if the customer paid the full amount?
The balance in the message is simply zero, which is a useful thing for a customer to have in writing.
Can staff send receipts, or only the owner?
Anyone whose role permits the WhatsApp send affordance can, and every send is recorded in the audit trail with the sender's name.
